Garage Sale 2008 | Donations & Storage Space Needed | New Location NeededIt's time to start thinking about donations for our 2008 garage sale fundraiser. We need a new location for 2008, and we don't have a place to store donations right now, but we would like to hear from you if you have something to donate. Due to space and weather constraints, we may move away from the usual style garage sale to more of a "White Elephant" sale including items like gift certificates to your favorite place - restaurants, coops, bookstores, etc, plus books and music, and kids things that are in excellent condition. Other selections yet to be determined. If you can offer storage space and/or good location for the 2008 sale please contact us! Butterlamps Butterlamps and prayers are offered daily in all Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, including KTC Minneapolis. They symbolize dispelling darkness through remarkable consciousness shifting practices. Butterlamp offerings are associated with great good fortune, relief from suffering, and healing. Lamps are traditionally offered for events that we celebrate such as marriage, anniversaries, birthdays, graduation, birth and healthy pregnancy; and lamps are offered in times of transition and challenge such as for 49 days at the time of death, in times of illness, job change, divorce, for caretakers and in other stressful situations, for animals, for the health of the planet Earth, for the reconcilliation of humanity. For people who have an energetic connection to Buddhism, any time is a good time to offer lamps for the monastery to thrive, for the long life of the lamas, and in support of the people who are practicing. Because we are not omniscient, an excellent aspiration to accompany your butterlamp is for the best results in any given situation, rather than specific results that you may be attracted to.
